What a difference a skinny belt can make. Specifically, a metallic skinny belt. It doesn’t HAVE to be metallic, of course. But if you want versatility, it is the way to go.
I was reminded of my love for J. Crew skinny belts twice today. First when getting dressed this morning. My husband looked at my Haute Hippie Tuxedo Shirt Dress and said I looked like I had a sack on. Two seconds later, belt secured around my waist- he loved the outfit. Go figure. Literally. Ha ha.
A few hours later, my producer at Today Show called to see if I could do a segment Friday morning about packing essentials.
Lucky for me, this has been on my mind a lot lately as I gear up for my August media tour extravaganza (more on that to come, don’t you worry.) So within 20 minutes, I had pulled the entire segment together. The first item that came to mind- a J. Crew skinny metallic belt. One simple cinch can take a caftan from breezy beach-chic to sophisticated resort glam.
Every time I travel, no matter the season or the occasion, I bring my gold and my silver versions. They allow me to stretch my limited carry-on wardrobe options just that much further.

[...] I have worn it with distressed denim and pointy-toe heels to toughen it up, and most recently paired it with a bright blue pants from ASOS (which I will write about at another time because I just ordered 3 more pairs in new colors, they are the best) and a major red lip (more to come on that in the near future as well- great new lipstick find to tell you about.)
