Maternity Style: More of Me Maternity Print Dress

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

In LOVE with this More of Me Maternity Shirtdress.

I tore open the UPS delivery this morning in hopes of finding the perfect fall dress to wear for my Lord & Taylor event tonight, and voila- this was sitting right on top. I was actually planning to throw my Gryphon vest on over it- and when I went to the More of Me website to find a link to accompany this post, saw that the model on the landing page styled this dress the exact same way I was planning to. You know what they say about great fashion minds…

Paired it with my new Be&D Whitbey boots- perfectly slouchy so they make my legs look skinnier (hopefully!) by comparison. Granted with the silver grommets I can’t pile on the gold accessories like I normally do, but these boots are so freaking comfortable, I will deal with it.

Oh- and notice that the dress has both black and brown in it- doubling wearability options. Huge plus.

Maternity Style: NOM Hawthorne Dress

Monday, October 25th, 2010

I love discovering new maternity brands that are appropriate for both work & play- and NOM is one that many new moms have raved to me about. This look features their Hawthorne Dress- which can be worn just as easily with patterned tights and high boots as it can with leggings and flats. In this particular case, I decided to re-discover an old fashion passion from seasons past- a dress over pants.

Maternity Style: Rosie Pope Tiered Dress

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

This was one of the first dresses I got when I found out I was pregnant- and thrilled to report I can still work it into my regular rotation- woo hoo. The Rosie Pope Tiered Dress is easy to wear (especially if you are looking to conceal the fact that you are pregnant- the tiers work wonders, I tell you…) Love that the sleeves are a little on the longer side- has a nice slimming effect on the arms which sadly is something I can very much use at the moment. Sometimes I think I am carrying triplets- one in the belly, and one in each upper arm. Sexy stuff, right?

Anyway- enough self-deprecating-borderline-disgusting humor. Back to the outfit…

Paired it with one of my favorite maternity finds (actually, come to think of it, time to order more- I live in them)  Assets by SPANX Maternity Lucky Leggings. So well priced at $18 a pair, and the slate gray color is gorgeous. The monochromatic thing works quite well on pregnant women, I am quickly learning.  Threw on my favorite Brian Atwood Maniac Nude Pumps- finally  breaking them in so I can wear them for an hour straight without tears welling up in my eyes from the pain.

Maternity Style: Nuka Maternity Twisted Dress

Friday, October 15th, 2010

I am officially obsessed with Nuka Maternity. Every thing I have tried from the brand fits perfectly- nice and fitted without being tight, and constructed so as to show one’s baby bump in the most flattering way possible.

The Nuka Maternity Twisted Dress is my new favorite- wore it this morning to film a segment for NY1 and can’t wait to wear it again. Ended up pairing it with black leggings and brown knee-high boots (changed after this pic was taken- had to run around too much to go stiletto today)- somehow all together, black, brown and grey work- who knew?!

Maternity Style: Missoni

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Even though people have told me repeatedly that I can still wear things from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe throughout this whole baby-bump experience, I very rarely believed them. With the exception of a few choice Thread Social jersey dresses, even the thought of squeezing myself into something that used to fit perfectly was too depressing.

The other morning, in a tizzy (Brian told me about 5 minutes before I walked out the door to film a segment that my dress looked ridiculously big- and he was right), I pulled this old school (as in 3 years ago) Missoni knit dress out of my closet. The great thing about Missoni? It stretches but the integrity of the design stays the same. So the dress fit- and fit pretty well, Had to add a belt though- you know I love me a skinny metallic belt. Threw my go-to nude GapMaternity tank underneath, and was out the door in 4 minutes flat. And feeling pretty darn good about myself. The clip-in hair helped- it always does…

Maternity Style: Nuka Maternity Dress

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

I love this dress. So much. It is from Nuka Maternity, and fits like a really comfortable, insanely chic glove.

Not gonna lie- when it arrived at my door, I was a tad nervous. The fashion rule cards were stacked against it: White? Check. Knit? Check. One Shoulder? Check. But the second I put it on, I felt like a (pregnant) goddess, and can’t wait to wear it again.

Gotta be honest- I am kinda gonna miss this dress post-baby. It is one thing in my closet that can motivate a total homebody like me to accept invitations to cocktail parties. Except if it is a Monday night. Because House is back on, and it takes a lot for me to voluntary miss an episode.

Maternity Style: La Prairie Pre-Natal Massage- Nice.

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

In my book, there are few things more decadent than a massage. So when I was invited up to La Prairie at the Ritz Carlton on Central Park South for one, I at first thought- I couldn’t POSSIBLY have time, there is no way I am going to be able to go. Then, I thought about all the amazing benefits of massage- pre-natal massage in particular- and figured- what the heck- I am making a human in my belly right now, I can allow myself this little luxury, right? So I went on Tuesday evening and it was pretty damn phenomenal.

The spa is so beautiful- has a very “Old New York” feel to it but not in a stodgy way- more in a “My life is fancy and fabulous and calm” way. And they have a music list with everything from Mozart to Jack Johnson- love that. I am not one for Pachelbel’s cannon, so being able to infuse some pop in my pampering was a huge plus.  My massage therapist David could not have been nicer- sometimes I feel weird with male masseuses, but he made me completely comfortable. And helped to hoist me into this great pre-natal pillow situation that they have so I could lay face down and get all the knots worked out of my lower back.

So, pregnant or not- if you are in NYC and feel like treating yourself to some classic R & R- check out the La Praire Spa. I have a good feeling you will love it as much I did.

Maternity Style: Rosie Pope Dress

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

I am madly in love with Rosie Pope. For me to trek to up to 91st and Madison for anything, I must. So while typically an expanding belly would make me cranky, when I woke up on Thursday morning and noticed a little extra junk in the front, I was thrilled. It meant I could finally break out this dress which I bought on my first pilgrimage up there a few weeks ago. I love the bracelet-length sleeves- so decided to pile on some bangles as my main accessory.

The shade of purple is rich and gorgeous, and the rosettes along the neckline dress it up just enough. I paired it with my new SPANX Assets maternity leggings and my trusty brown Gucci boots that I snagged on sale at Bergdorf Goodman about 3 years ago and love dearly to this day.

In this photo I am down in Tribeca where I styled bloggers, producers and editors  in the new FitFlop Fall/Winter styles as the brand previewed the latest collection to the media. A few minutes after this picture was taken, I traded on my 4 inch heels for FitFlop Mukluks and not gonna lie- as much as I adore a good heel, the night was significantly more pleasant in my FitFlops.

Maternity Stye: Nuka Maternity, Leggings & Flats = Weekend Perfection

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Agreed- the hair and makeup are not quite up to par with past posts- but hey, it was a lazy Sunday so cut me some slack. The main reason I feel compelled to post this picture is because of the shirt I am wearing, which is the most perfect fitting maternity shirt I have put on so far.

From Nuka Maternity, it is double layered, perfectly textured and nice and long without being drapey. There is a semi-deep v-neck which borderlines on revealing, but in my opinion, as long as this whole pregnancy is giving me,a, well, ample bust- I may as well kinda show it off, right?

Maternity Style: Thread Social Dress

Friday, September 17th, 2010

Thread Social is one of my all-time favorite brands- and this dress that I am wearing is destined to be my maternity go-to- although as the belly gets bigger, tights or leggings will likely be necessary. Notice the giant bow on the shoulder.  I have a thing for bows- my wedding 5 years ago had a whole bow theme, actually. It sort of embodies my girly-girl style- and as my style evolves- so do the bows. Hence this one is kind of haphazard and drapey- a little more laid back than the giant purple perfectly tied one wrapped around my Monique Lhuillier dress as I walked down the aisle.

Paired it with my sky-high Louboutins that I got at the most recent sample sale (yes, lucky me, I know.) I am learning- the bigger the belly, the higher the heel. Practical? Perhaps not. But I never claimed to be practical.

Went minimal with accessories- since I like to make it all about the bow. Diamond studs, which I know you can’t see here, and my most favorite accessory of all- a couple clip in hair extensions.  To date, I think this is one of my favorites. Now I challenge myself to style it differently so I can wear it again and impress you with my versatility :)
